Frustratingly depressing

Working to finish the cabinet doors. The problem is on three of them so far the wood seems to have had a little more grease absorption than the others. The paint just peels right off. So they will need to be stripped down again...cleaned again and repainted.
There is always something hiding in a job to make it tougher than it needs to be. It isn't that it's hard work, it's just that you work on a project step by step and when you think a portion of it is done...blamo...

so much to do, so much time

I woke up this morning with the idea a blasting out some of the jobs I need to do. Awoke at 6, by 7 the bedroom closet was painted. Shortly after most of the doors from the hall and the kitchen were removed and stacked up against the wall in the dining room. The next step would be cleaning them. I went to the basement and did the paint touch up to five of the cabinet doors. At this point I realized how nice it was out. That, ended the days work It was going to be a motorcycle day, just as the previous two days were.

Memorial day plans

I really need to get back to work on the house, After doing nothing really for two days I have to get back on the stick. Monday should be, painting the bedroom closet so I can move all the clothes out of the dining room. Reorganizing and cleaning the kitchen so I can better see what needs touch up. Touching up the cabinet doors that are painted, painting those that aren't and scrubbing and painting the Den, bedroom, bathroom, basement and Closet doors.

That is really what I should do, and that is what I plan to do....but.. I also have to sit down and pay some bills, I also have to fill out the permits for the garage and Evert informed me that Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm has Maple Bacon Ice Cream...

BACON!!!!

Sounds like a bike ride doesn't it.

Let's talk tacky

What do you need if you have blue ceilings, blue walls, and blue cabinet doors and trim?

Don't know?

Come on... A Blue Neon Kitchen Clock...

I mean really, what else would you have?

Last night was a night off...

if you are impressed with my painters work, maybe you should see what she works on when not at work or at work on my house...

She recenyly bought a get away spot....She is currently, changing the floor out, replacing texture 111, replacing rot spots, well...rebuilding the entire place, plus the ground area needs work...

Is it worth it?

HELL YEAH...

Stepping outside

The girls need a home, right now, and the last year, one has been kept in the shed, the other lives at work. I want them both home...

The problem is, the shed is not big enough for the two of them...So...I need to apply for a building permit...this requires measurements.

The patio are...is expendable

Hood

Once the wiring was taken care of the hood went up with four screws...easy

Back splash

realizing I really liked the combination of the three blue shades, something was needed to set it off, Nat suggested a back Splash, so I went out looking. Finding what I wanted in a simple glue on Vinyl design I opted to discard the plastic fixture plates in favor of something to go with the back splash. The Stainless choice of back splash was to go with the stainless range hood.

So back splash work was to begin...

There was a rather ugly gap between the top of the sink counter top and the window, There was nothing ever there, I decided a simple molding would fill the gap, But a half round with pattern would tie the back splash together on either side of the window,

The molding over the sink just needed a coat of chrome spray paint and a little black

There were a couple more arrivals during this period...

One was a computer desk, which now sits in the "Green" room and I am currently using it to write this..

When totally cleaned up it should be holding one tower, one monitor, one laptop, three scanner copiers and a cell phone dock, not to mention a myriad of discs and computer support equipment.
Right now all it has on it is a laptop.

The other thing to show up was another female, this one wasn't here to work though, and she didn't stay long...Her job as best as I could make out was as an inspirationalist, Dhe had a rather persuasive personality, she didn't say much, but her mannerism makes you want to continue working on the house...

Cabinet Blue.

I can say that one of the worst things to do were the cabinet doors. There was so much grease on them the paint was deteriorated, more scrubbing and then some painting, and then clean off the areas that were still problem spots and repaint them.

The replacement hood

The old stove hood did not work, so I figured stainless would go well with the blues...I bought the hood at Home Depot and it

sat on the counter until....tonight...

That's funny, you don't look blueish

I tried to fill in the wall blue...as you can see, i kept my distance from all things "trim"

And once again, i arrived home after work and, remember the story about the cobbler who woke up to a room full of shoes, all made by elves or fairies? Well that's rather what this felt like. While I was away...Nat was at play.

You know something, the blues do work together, Can I pick colors or what. You know what this room needs now...a back splash

The next day...

I came home to a kitchen and hall with the trim work done...

At this point...I knew...The blue was wrong...How do you tell someone who spent all that time painting that you didn't like it and it had to go....

You don't,

You bite your lip, ignore the paint and hope, just hope, that once that ugly yellow is gone the new light wall blue, the ceiling blue, and the trim blue will actually look ok.

As I was "playing" in the closet...

Nat was busy trying out a little trim painting to see how it would look.

To be totally honest I had my doubts about the paint color. The problem was... I'm the one who picked the colors and bought the paint.

I still had my doubts...
